John Sabraw, Toxic Art: Turning Pollution to Paint,  Slag Bed Function

Team, Athens, Ohio

Toxic Art is an ongoing collaborative project lead by artist John Sabraw and engineer

Guy Riefler to open a pilot treatment plant in Corning, Ohio. This treatment plant was

implemented to filter acid mine drainage from the waters and use the remaining residue

as paint pigment. The Slag Bed Function Team operated to design the interior workings

of the plant’s slag bed components.
